Trump defends ‘seriously retarded’ label: ‘Yeah, there’s something wrong with Walz’

President Donald Trump doubled down on recent criticism of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, saying he believes there is “something wrong” with the Democratic leader.

The president targeted Walz in a Thanksgiving message posted to Truth Social last week, calling the failed 2024 vice presidential nominee “seriously retarded.” He was asked about his post by a reporter aboard Air Force One.

“You mentioned Tim Walz, and you called him what many Americans find an offensive word, ‘retarded.’ Do you stand by that claim of calling Tim Walz retarded?” the reporter asked.

“Yeah, I think there’s something wrong with him,” Trump replied. “Absolutely.”

“Sure. You have a problem with it?” the president then asked the reporter.

“You know what? I think there’s something wrong with him. Anybody that would do what he did, anybody that would allow those people into his state and pay billions of dollars out to Somalia– We give billions of dollars to Somalia. It’s not even a country because it doesn’t function like a country. It’s got a name, but it doesn’t function like a country,” Trump said, referring to the influx of Somali migrants in Minnesota.

“Yeah, there’s something wrong with Walz,” the president added.

Trump’s original post blasted Walz for allowing Somali migrants to take over the “once great state.”

“Hundreds of thousands of refugees from Somalia are completely taking over the once great State of Minnesota. Somalian gangs are roving the streets looking for ‘prey’ as our wonderful people stay locked in their apartments and houses, hoping against hope that they will be left alone,” Trump wrote. “The seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, does nothing, either through fear, incompetence, or both.”

The governor’s attempt to fire back at the president only seemed to earn him more ridicule.

“Release the MRI results,” Walz wrote on X, referring to the president’s latest medical checkup.

When a reporter asked Trump on Sunday about the governor’s comment and releasing the results of his exam, he replied, “Governor Walz? You mean, the incompetent governor? So, if they want to release it, it’s okay with me to release it.”
