Chicago mayor predictably goes right to the race card after Trump calls for his arrest

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson surprised no one when he whipped out the race card in response to President Donald Trump’s suggestion that he be arrested.

The Democrat mayor fired back at the president, accusing him of trying to have him “unjustly arrested” because he is a black man running a city. Johnson evidently sees no problem with the rampant crime in the city and has joined Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker in suing the Trump administration to block the use of National Guard troops in the state.

Johnson whined that deploying the National Guard to his city is “illegal, unconstitutional, dangerous, and wrong.”

Trump called out the two Democrats and said they should be in jail for failing to protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

“Chicago Mayor should be in jail for failing to protect ICE Officers! Governor Pritzker also!” the president wrote.

Johnson fired back, predictably making it a case about race and not the dismal job he is doing running the city into the ground.

“This is not the first time Trump has tried to have a Black man unjustly arrested,” he said.  “I’m not going anywhere.”

“This president is unstable, unhinged, a double-minded individual that quite frankly is a threat to our democracy, and it’s certainly not the first time that Donald Trump has called for the arresting of a Black man unjustly. I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to stay firm as the mayor of this amazing city,” Johnson told CNN. “We’re going to defend all of Chicago.”

Johnson’s quick attempt to distract by bringing up race earned him plenty of flak on social media, where X users pointed out one obvious fact:

Others noted how the race card is just “played out.”
