California’s own “American Psycho” waded into the government shutdown fight with finger-pointing and a lowbrow allegation against the vice president — only to face his own fact check.
Over the course of California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) public career, he’s gone from merely looking like Christian Bale’s portrayal of Patrick Bateman to similarly striving to craft his own public persona. Shifting gears from an aisle-crossing podcast to tough guy social media posts, the executive whose state has expanded access for illegal aliens to receive taxpayer-funded healthcare accused Vice President J.D. Vance of lying as he called the man a heartbeat from the presidency a “dipsh*t.”
Following meetings in the White House seeking to find a path forward for government funding ahead of the anticipated shutdown, Vance spoke outside the White House flanked by congressional leaders and boiled the debate down to Democrats putting “a gun to the American people’s head and saying, ‘Unless you do exactly what Senate and House Democrats want you to do, we’re gonna shutdown your government.’”
As with other leftists, Newsom took particular umbrage with Vance’s claim that the Democrats had been seeking a $1.5 trillion spending package expected to direct hundreds of billions of dollars toward healthcare for illegal aliens, leading him to contend, “Blatantly false, you dipsh*t.”

Considering the reality that passage of a spending package to continue funding the government requires at least seven Democratic Senators to help Republicans clear the 60-vote threshold, efforts to fault the GOP if a deal couldn’t be reached strain credulity.
That didn’t stop the leader of the once-Golden State from further claiming, “Republicans have control of the House, Senate, and White House. If the government shuts down, it’s on them.”

As had been reported in June, California, alongside Illinois and Minnesota, expanded healthcare coverage to illegal aliens. However, their globalist policies have resulted in massive budget issues, with California expected to pay $12 billion next year on healthcare for foreign nationals after already dishing out more than $8 billion in the previous year.
Similar to Newsom, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) maintained that “current federal law prohibits using taxpayer dollars for undocumented immigrants in connection with their healthcare,” before adding to MSNBC Saturday, “And no one is trying to change or reverse that law.”
However, it remains that Senate Democrats voted earlier this year to block an amendment that sought to reduce federal Medicaid payments to states providing healthcare to illegal aliens charged or convicted of serious crimes.
Texas Sen. John Cornyn (R) said at the time, “[Forty-three] Democrats just BLOCKED my amendment to punish states that give Medicaid benefits to illegal aliens convicted or charged with crimes like murder or sex trafficking. Democrats chose to side with the worst of the worst in our society over our seniors and most vulnerable American citizens. Disgusting.”
Newsom’s effort to interject himself into the debate and score political points ahead of a speculated 2028 White House bid found many suggesting he “should probably sit this one out.”
