Yankees faithful greet Trump with warm welcome as he marks 9/11 anniversary

President Donald Trump appeared at a New York Yankees game Thursday night to mark the 24th anniversary of Sept. 11, and the president was well-received by the crowd.

Which is not to say there weren’t a few Bronx cheers, after all, this is New York City.

Loud chants of “USA, USA” broke out before and after the national anthem, which followed Trump’s visit to the Yankees’ home clubhouse, where he shook hands and had extensive chats with Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe, according to Fox News.

The crowd’s reaction was unmistakable when the big screen showed an image of Trump saluting during the anthem, drawing a smile from the president:

Trump took part in a 9/11 ceremony at the Pentagon earlier in the day, before joining Yankees team owner Hal Steinbrenner and president Randy Levine in their suite to take in the game.

In what proved to be an encouraging display, following the senseless assassination of Christian conservative activist Charlie Kirk, some members of the opposing Detroit Tigers were seen doing the “Trump Dance.” There may be hope yet for common sense and decency in America:

Based on the responses to the story, the murder of Kirk was fresh on the minds of those who still value freedom — the Yankees observed a moment of silence in honor of Kirk before Wednesday night’s game.

Here’s a quick sampling of those responses, as seen on the social media platform X:
