Somewhere in the air above Turkish shores, the distant sound of a sad trombone is playing.
A nearly $1M luxury yacht sinking into the ocean minutes after it left shore has captured the curiosity of Internet users.
The “Dolce Vento” had just left the coast of Zonguldak in Northern Turkey when it was spotted tipping to one side. Fifteen minutes later, what looked like the crew could be seen jumping into the water as the boat went under.

It was the yacht’s maiden launch after it had been delivered to its owner in Istanbul, who reportedly paid $940,000 for it, a price that many found curious.
An investigation into the incident is underway, but meanwhile, X users offered plenty of snarky speculation over the scene:
Dolce Vento, meaning Gentle Wind.
Wind? It never got to see a slight draft.

If a yacht that size only cost $1M, then that explains why it sunk

The good news: $1m gets you an 85 foot yacht in Turkey.
The bad news: it floats upside down.— brian t muldoon (@brian_t_muldoon) September 3, 2025
Maybe they forgot to screw in the bilge plug? That happened to me one time but thankfully I caught it before my boat sank.

Look how tiny that hull is when it’s out of the water! What a terrible design. I’m no shipbuilder, but I could have told you that wasn’t going to work.

Boat is worth at least 5x what the headline claims. Also obviously ballasted bad. She was taking on water from the get-go, hence the list, but there’s no way a list that small should have immediately capsized her.
