Trump’s America250 org to create world’s largest American flag for nation’s landmark birthday

America’s upcoming milestone is set to be celebrated in mammoth proportions as planners confirmed the commission of a skyscraper-sized tribute.

Like references to football fields or basketball courts to explain the scale of something, many have heard the jokes that Americans will use anything to measure size, save for the metric system. Yet such references truly give perspective as the team behind the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration announced plans to display Old Glory on par with the Empire State Building.

Speaking with organizers of the America250 commission established by Congress in 2016, Fox News Digital confirmed plans to create the world’s largest American flag ahead of July 4, 2026, with a goal of it measuring 1,492 feet long by 776 feet wide, “The flag is expected to stretch longer — or taller — than New York City’s Empire State Building, and will be nearly half the size of the Pentagon.”

“Everything President Trump does is historic and larger than life. America250 will be no different, and we’re kicking things off by breaking a massive world record — creating the world’s largest American flag,” America250 Executive Director Ari Abergel told Fox News Digital.

With previous flag records set by Qatar in 2013 and Azerbaijan in 2024, with the largest draped flag at 1,097,672 square feet and the largest flown flag at 25,598 square feet, respectively, America250 aims to “blow them both away” with Old Glory measuring over 1,157,000 square feet.

Given the planned scale, the National Mall in Washington, D.C. cannot support the display of such a flag, so venues under consideration include a NASCAR speedway, Joint Base Andrews, or the geographic center of the country in Lebanon, Kansas.

“The flag will be Made in America, and unfurled by hundreds of patriots in an extraordinary moment of national unity as part of America250,” explained Abergel as U.S. Chief of Protocol and America250 Principal Media Representative Ambassador Monica Crowley expressed how between now and summer 2026, America250 is “activating unforgettable moments that will fill American hearts with patriotism and pride for years to come.”

“Under President Trump’s leadership, the national mood is bright and optimistic,” said the former assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of the Treasury. “There could be no better time to throw our country a spectacular birthday party, including unfurling the largest American flag in history.”

In leading up to the celebration, President Donald Trump, who shares his June 14th birthday with Flag Day, has already taken steps to honor Old Glory by both erecting massive flag poles on the grounds of the White House and combating the desecration of the American Flag.

While the celebration is taking place under the current administration, planning spans both Republican and Democratic terms in the White House and features bipartisan input. As such, Abergel was prompted to respond to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) decision to appoint President John F. Kennedy’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, a rabid anti-Trump activist, to the commission.

“At the end of the day, America 250 will be remembered as President Trump’s celebration — nobody else’s,” he told Fox News Digital. “And the President is the only reason why it will be a success.”
