Unable to get anything to stick to President Donald J. Trump, Democrats are now trying to concoct a scandal over Vice President JD Vance’s engaging in diplomacy on a recent trip across the pond.
During the vice president’s official visit to the United Kingdom earlier this month, Vance took a break from his rigorous schedule to get in some friendly fishing on a private lake with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
Last week, Vance posted pictures of himself and Lammy, including of the two of them casting their rods for trout at Chevening House, the foreign secretary’s private retreat in Kent, which is known as “the Garden of England.”

Because nothing is too petty for the desperate Democrats, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) pounced on the vice president’s outdoor activity with a press release titled “VACATION VANCE AT IT AGAIN: Vance Fished ‘Illegally’ With UK Foreign Secretary While Americans Drown in Sky-High Costs.”
“JD Vance is living it up on his summer holiday — on the taxpayers’ dime — all while working families face sky-high inflation and the largest cuts to health care and food assistance in American history,” the DNC War Room claimed.
“For one of his few official activities while on vacation, Vance spoke to troops for only six minutes before returning to his $10,000 per week luxury Cotswolds manor. After using public resources earlier this month so he could go boating on his birthday, Vance fished ‘illegally’ in the United Kingdom, potentially costing the foreign secretary a £2,000 fine,” the press release said.
The DNC’s sensational accusation of the vice president fishing “illegally” refers to Lammy’s breaking of an obscure British rule over fishing without a rod license.
“As soon as the foreign secretary was made aware of the administrative error, he successfully purchased the relevant rod fishing licenses,” a UK Foreign Office spokesperson said, CNN reported.
“This comes after Trump and Vance ripped away health care from 17 million Americans, slashed food assistance for over 22 million families, and unleashed economic chaos on the American people — all to give their billionaire friends and donors another round of massive tax handouts. While working families struggle to get by, it’s clear where Vance’s loyalties lie — and it’s not with them,” the DNC added, regurgitating the same tiresome talking points that have failed to resonate with anyone but their own gullible voters.
But the DNC is sticking with their bogus narrative that the veep spends too much time on vacation.

It’s a real knee-slapper considering that it constantly defended former President Joe Biden, who set records that may never be broken in time spent away from the White House, either staying at the homes of rich donors or kicking back at his two homes in Delaware. But again, they’re just preaching to their own choir.
Vance was also recently attacked over his leisure time when California’s greaseball Governor Gavin Newsom criticized him for a visit to Disneyland with his family.

“Hope you enjoy your family time,” the Democrat wrote on X, sharing a video of the Vance family at the Anaheim theme park. “The families you’re tearing apart certainly won’t.”
“Had a great time, thanks,” Vance responded.
During a recent appearance on “The Katie Miller Podcast,” the vice president described spending time with family as husband and father as “sacred” time.
“It’s possible to do it even in my job,” Vance said. “Yes, if like a war breaks out, then sometimes you have to cancel even the sacred time. But we’ve been pretty good about making sure that I have at least a couple of hours with my family every single day.”
By harping on Vance’s leisure time, Democrats are coming across as being even more pitiful than they already are, and Americans aren’t taking the bait.
