Good riddance!
Former Lt. Governor of Georgia, Geoff Duncan, is officially cutting ties with the GOP and joining the Democratic Party after years of battling with Republicans.
“My journey to becoming a Democrat started well before Donald Trump tried to steal the 2020 election in Georgia,” an apparent bitter Duncan wrote in an op-ed for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday that announced his new party, on Tuesday.
Duncan, who served as lieutenant governor from 2019 to 2023, went on to criticize Republicans on gun control, immigration, and healthcare, Fox News reported.
“There’s no date on a calendar or line in the sand that points to the exact moment in time my political heart changed, but it has,” he continued. “My decision was centered around my daily struggle to love my neighbor, as a Republican.”
Duncan’s announcement wasn’t a huge surprise since the “exact moment” could have been when he was kicked out of the Georgia Republican Party over alleged disloyalty.
“What took you so long?” a defiant Duncan responded at the time.
Former GA Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan:
“The Georgia GOP decided to kick me out. The first question I asked was, ‘What took you so long?’ Because they’ve lost their way. All they care about is Donald Trump.”

And plenty of X users welcomed the news, saying Democrats deserve someone like Duncan:

Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan says he’s leaving the Republican Party shortly after being thrown out of the Republican Party
Your not leaving the Republican Party, you were thrown out

He was the Lieutenant Governor of Georgia during the 2020 election and turned a blind eye to the steal in Atlanta.
He left the Republican party a long time ago.

In this environment with how absolutely insane the left is…
joining them means he was NEVER on the right. He was a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Nailed it.
Talk about being totally out of sync with current events. Must be a good thing. Better a Dem stab in the chest than a Rhino stab in the back. Or maybe he already had a track record and some encouragement… pic.twitter.com/eCOW7pcvHW

At least one RINO does the right thing and officially changes his party to a D. More RINOs should do this and get the heck out of the way of MAGA republicans.

That would be nice.
Who jumps overboard and swims over to a sinking ship??

Someone suffering with TDS, that’s who.
This explains quite a bit about politics in Georgia, doesn’t it?

With a 13% approval rating – by all means, join the losers and you were never a true conservative! Buh bye
