Biden judge orders Trump to resettle 12k migrants to the US, where is Congress?

On Monday, a federal judge mandated that the Trump administration promptly resettle approximately 12,000 refugees in the U.S., following a court order that partially overturned President Donald Trump’s executive order intended to suspend the refugee admissions program.

“This Court will not entertain the Government’s result-oriented rewriting of a judicial order that clearly says what it says,” U.S. District Judge Jamal Whitehead, appointed by Joe Biden in 2023, wrote on Monday.

“The Government is free, of course, to seek further clarification from the Ninth Circuit. But the Government is not free to disobey statutory and constitutional law — and the direct orders of this Court and the Ninth Circuit — while it seeks such clarification.”

On his first day, Trump signed an order pausing refugee resettlement and tasking Homeland Security with evaluating its U.S. benefits within 90 days.

Whitehead blocked the Trump administration’s move to suspend the resettlements in February, after the admin was sued by refugee aid groups, Fox News reported.

Whitehead gave the Trump administration seven days to resume processing the cases of refugees protected under his court order.

The Trump administration signaled last week that it would likely appeal any court order mandating thousands of illegal aliens to be admitted to or remain in the U.S.
