White House: Report claiming Trump admin will revoke protections for Ukrainian refugees is ‘fake news’

The White House denied a Reuters report claiming the Trump administration is set to revoke legal protections for hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees.

Such a move could fast-track deportation for roughly 240,000 Ukrainians and is further enraging leftists where the report is being spread widely.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, however, called Reuters’ report, “fake news.”

“This is more fake news from Reuters based on anonymous sources who have no idea what they are talking about.” Leavitt charged. “The truth: no decision has been made at this time.”

The alleged rollback of Ukrainian refugee status was underway before Trump’s now-infamous meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and was part of a “broader” effort to strip legal status from more than 1.8 million “migrants allowed to enter the U.S. under temporary humanitarian parole programs launched under the Biden administration,” according to Reuter’s “sources.”

The Reuters article comes after Trump demanded the leftist magazine give back the $9m it was given by the DOJ to engage in social engineering practices.

Given Reuters’ apparent record of deception, X users weren’t surprised by its unsubstantiated claims.
