Vice President J.D. Vance delivered a message to Senate Republicans about the looming confirmations of Tulsi Gabbard, Kash Patel, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“The president has made his selections and the advice and consent power of the United States Senate should not be used to block people because you have one policy disagreement on one issue,” Vance told Fox News’ Sean Hannity Thursday. “You don’t get to make these decisions. President Trump gets to make these decisions, and he already has.”
Vance discussed the political outliers and former Democrats who’ve supported Donald Trump’s presidency and have stepped up to serve, arguing that their support helped deliver Trump’s historic win.
Vance’s comments on the nominees start around the 5:40 mark in the video clip below:
“Donald Trump won an imposing mandate because he got a different group of people to vote Republican than had ever voted Republican,” Vance said. “We have to give those parts of the coalition some wins, too. So, yes, we’ve got a lot of traditional Republicans in the administration. We’ve got a lot of traditional national security hawks in the administration. But we’ve also got some new people, some people who bring a fresh perspective.”
An excellent point and one that Vance has also been making on X:
In their own way, both Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr. represent parts of the new coalition in our party.
To say they’re unwelcome in the cabinet is to insult those new voters.
To reject their confirmation is to reject the idea that President Trump decides his cabinet.

Eight members of Trump’s Cabinet have been confirmed including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.
Three key Cabinet positions yet to be filled are Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence, Kash Patel to lead the FBI and Robert F. Kennedy Jr for Secretary of Health and Human Services. All three nominees are considered controversial (see: threat) by Democrats who are fighting vigorously against their nominations.
Meanwhile the “MAGA/MAHA movement” has also been putting their Senators on notice and highlighting the strengths of Trump’s nominees:
“Those that oppose my nomination — are accusing me of being Trump’s puppet, Putin’s puppet, Assad’s puppet, a guru’s puppet, Modi’s puppet — what truly unsettles them is I refuse to be THEIR puppet.” -Tulsi Gabbard pic.twitter.com/pEYofy9n0i

RFK JR: “The first thing I’ve done every morning for the past 20 years – is get on my knees and pray to God that He would put me in a position to end the chronic disease epidemic and to help America’s children.”
