Poland’s president: Trump’s ‘comeback’ reverses ‘hurt, damage’ done by Biden

Global leaders reacted to President Donald Trump’s return to the White House during talks at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Poland President Andrzej Duda spoke of Trump’s “comeback” with Fox Business’s Maria Bartiromo, saying through a translator that former President Biden’s policies “hurt” his nation, and left them with “a deep sense of disappointment” which he hopes will be reversed with Trump’s return.

The 47th president took swift action upon being inaugurated last week, reversing many of Biden’s policies, including the limiting of exports of artificial intelligence chips to Poland.

“I belong to those European politicians and to those European observers who are looking at the comeback of President Donald Trump to the White House in a very calm way,” Duda told Bartiromo.

“In Poland, we have a feeling that we have been hurt by this decision,” Duda said, “and there is a deep sense of disappointment with this policy and decisions taken by President Biden and his administration,” Duda added.

“As a result of that decision, Poland has found itself among the countries which are not in the first tier of U.S. allies. So we have been pushed to second or even third tier of those countries who are not very highly trusted by the United States,” the Polish leader continued.

“So it is also my feeling, my personal feeling that it has caused some hurt and damage here in Poland,” he said.

Duda had “a very long discussion” with Trump when the two met up in New York last year.

“He’s done a fantastic job and he’s my friend,” Trump said of the Polish president at the time.

“We had four great years together,” Trump added. “We’re behind Poland all the way.”

He explained to Bartiromo that he is looking forward to the “continuation” of Trump’s “experience” from his first term.

“He has brought forward very clear arguments concerning relations between the United States and European countries, especially those rich countries, those very affluent countries. And the arguments that President Donald Trump has presented have been very logical and very clear,” Duda stated.

“And I do believe that Donald Trump is right,” he added.

He explained that the U.S. and Poland are both “determined” to end Russia’s nearly three-year war with Ukraine, noting that Trump “is very much determined and he’s got this very out-of-the-box view of politics.”

“So if he’s saying that, I believe that this is going to come true,” Duda predicted, “it is going to happen.”
