The 2025 Oscar nominations were just announced and included the first openly transgender person for the Best Actress award.
Karla Sofía Gascón scored a first-time Academy Awards nomination as the full list of nominees was unveiled Thursday. The Spanish-born ‘actress’ got the nod for starring in the musical “Emilia Pérez,” which scored 13 Oscar nominations.
“What an illusion, what an honor, what love. I feel fulfilled, it is the culmination of nine months of promotion and two years of work,” Gascón told The Hollywood Reporter. “Now it is time to focus on my performance and put aside my ethnicity, sexuality or hair color, to move forward in ‘integration.’”

“Today it is proven that art does not understand hate. No one can question my work, even less the fact that I am an actress,” Gascón said. “An actress who deserves to be recognized solely and exclusively for her sublime performance in Emilia Pérez.”
According to the outlet, Gascón played a “Mexican cartel leader who transitions and dedicates herself to aiding the victims of gang violence” in the musical drama directed by Jacques Audiard.

Gascón became the first transgender woman to score the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for the role and fired off a lawsuit against a French politician who lamented on social media, “So a man has won best actress. Progress for the left means the erasure of women and mothers.”
The legal complaint was filed against Marion Maréchal for “sexist insult on the basis of gender identity.”
Gascón blasted President Donald Trump this week, calling him out as “shameless” after his executive order declaring the administration is only recognizing two sexes.
“I hope that whatever needs to happen happens to shut everyone up, on both sides,” Gascón told THR.
The nomination caused an outcry on social media as X users blasted the prize being taken away from a biologically female actress.
Karla Sofia Gascon is the first man to be nominated for an Oscar meant for a woman. There you go. Corrected it for you…… https://t.co/S74RcAQCh0

So a guy who pretends to be a woman, acting as a guy pretending to be a woman, gets a Best Actress nomination.
That means an actual talented woman got bumped for a man who can’t succeed in his own gender.
That was the nail in the coffin for me. You just made women irrelevant…

Liberals are making more awards worthless by turning them into woke participation trophies

Why does the left think men make better women than real women? I remember when they were saying that using the word “guys” for group of women was erasing women, lol.

It’s awesome watching Hollywood destroy itself under the banner of trans ideology
