CNN anchor Jim Acosta is reportedly not adjusting to the network’s post-inaugural schedule lineup.

On Thursday, CNN announced its new weekday programming schedule, and evidently, the longtime critic of President Donald Trump was left off the lineup. The move reportedly sent Acosta into “active discussions” with network chiefs as he will no longer be hosting “CNN Newsroom” at 10:00 a.m. during the week.

The timeslot will now feature “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown,” moving veteran Wolf Blitzer from the evenings to a morning slot. Also part of the shake-up saw Jake Tapper’s show “The Lead” being moved to air an hour later.

Acosta was reportedly pitched a proposal by CNN Chairman and Chief Executive Mark Thompson to move to a midnight time slot and possibly move to Los Angeles, according to a report in the Status newsletter by Oliver Darcy, former CNN media correspondent.

“Acosta has yet to make a decision on accepting the assignment, said the people familiar with the matter, who were not authorized to comment publicly. He has been told by CNN that the move to Los Angeles is not a requirement and that the new program could come out of Washington, where he lives with his family,” the Los Angeles Times reported.

“If CNN goes forward with the move, some will see it as a way of capitulating to President Trump by reducing the profile of a journalist known for his aggressive coverage of Trump’s first administration. If Acosta decides against taking the assignment, he may exit the network, according to people familiar with his thinking,” the Times noted.

A CNN spokesperson told Fox News Digital, “We are in active discussions with Jim about a new time slot and will have more information to share soon.”

One staffer at the network told Fox News that the former White House correspondent is “getting hosed” by CNN where he has worked since 2007.

“Acosta is a talented broadcaster who could handle any slot on the network,” a CNN staffer told Fox News Digital. “The midnight thing is shocking [but] it is what it is.”

“He could have a real slot, but the choice is to not give him one,” the staffer reportedly said.

The lineup changes were announced as the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned network also announced layoffs.
