Exposed: Trump-hater Dick Durbin does bidding of woke megastores with CCCA scam bill

Washington enters new dynamics this January as President Trump takes back the White House after winning the Electoral College and popular vote.

Republicans also maintained the majority in the United States House and flipped control of the upper chamber in the Senate. They have a real chance to put Main Street first and lower prices for the American consumer.
Enter Senator Dick Durbin.

Perhaps no one has opposed President Trump’s agenda and nominees more than Durbin. He has prematurely opposed Pam Bondi and Kash Patel, Trump’s picks to lead the DOJ and FBI. One of his last Senate hearings as chair of the Judiciary Committee was about bashing President Trump’s popular immigration policies.

Durbin has been a champion of legislation called The Credit Card Competition Act, which he says aims to help American consumers. However, studies show the opposite.

The legislation, if passed, would threaten community banks and lenders that many middle-class Americans depend on. It would harm credit access for low-income Americans looking to buy their first home. On top of this, the legislation would put consumers’ data at risk, allowing shady alternative networks to use less secure methods.

Senator Durbin has been exposed, however, as someone who is doing the bidding of big retailers and megastores, not helping solve the problems of middle-class families.

Earlier this year, Washington, D.C.-based lobbyist David French, who represents the National Retail Federation, said Durbin has become an “invaluable” asset to the industry. In fact, Durbin raked in over $80,000 in corporate donations from those in the industry. Durbin has also received donations from Home Depot and Target.

As one Senate Judiciary aide told us, “Durbin is more concerned about doing the bidding of huge megastores like Amazon and Target than he is of actually addressing inflation.”

Another Senate Democrat staffer told this outlet, “Dick Durbin rakes in corporate cash and is known to be a lapdog for Target’s interests.”

The Chicago Tribune has even pointed out how Senator Durbin has pushed for interests that benefit clients of his wife (who is a lobbyist. One Republican think tank researcher stated, “Senator Durbin’s support for the CCCA seems to be driven more by his campaign donations than anything, especially given the fact that this bill would crush rewards for consumers.”

As we enter a new era in Washington, with Republicans in control, many insiders expect Durbin to still push the CCCA in the new Congress. But a Senate leadership aide issued a stark warning: “Republicans know that Durbin hates President Trump and will do anything to oppose his agenda and nominees. He is absolutely toxic to work with.”
