Mosque allegedly attended by NOLA terrorist releases disturbing statement

The mosque allegedly attended by the suspect accused of the deadly terrorist attack in New Orleans raised concerns with a posted response.

In what is being reported as a message to its members, the Houston, Texas mosque seemed to advise being “vigilant” in staying safe while also directing FBI and other queries to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

Social media users found the statement’s focus on the safety of the Muslim community, without mention of others in the community, to be only one of the disturbing factors in the message following the tragic New Year’s Eve massacre in which the suspect drove his pickup truck through revelers, leaving 15 dead and dozens of others injured.

“If anyone is contacted by the media, it is very important that you do not respond,” the Houston mosque advised in its message.

“If approached by the FBI and a response is necessary, please refer to CAIR and ISGH,” the Masjid Bilal notice continued. “It is crucial that we stay united at this time as we condemn these terrible acts. Please stay safe.”

There were no condolences for the victims’ families offered in the message which only offered condemnation of  “these terrible acts.”

Reports have not confirmed the mosque was attended by the 42-year-old U.S. Army veteran from Texas who was killed in a shootout with police after his rampage through Bourbon Street.

“This is not just an act of terrorism. This is evil,” Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said.

“We will be relentless, and we will do everything that it takes to render real justice,” Mayor LaToya Cantrell said at a news conference.

Social media users weighed in on the message from the Houston mosque.
