A private event in New York City turned deadly as gunmen allegedly opened fire in a Queens nightclub leaving 10 people injured.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) said the incident was “not a terrorist attack” but they are searching for three to four men believed to be responsible for shooting at the crowd gathered at the Amazura nightclub.

“Four males walked towards the venue, three to four males began firing over 30 times in the direction of the people outside the venue hitting multiple victims,” the NYPD’s Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera said at a press conference.
“There’s zero tolerance for these senseless shootings,” he said. “These horrible acts of violence on our streets, and those responsible for this crime, will be apprehended and brought to justice.”

“A private event was taking place at the space with about 90 people inside when bullets flew around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday,” WABC reported. “Eyewitness News has learned the gathering was to celebrate the birthday and life of Taearion Mungo, a 16-year-old fatally shot in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, last Oct. 26. He would have turned 17 on Wednesday.”
The gunmen allegedly fled the scene on foot before getting into a vehicle with out-of-state license plates.
The gunfire reportedly injured 10 people, six females and four males between the ages of 16-20. The injuries are said to be non-life-threatening, according to police. Footage posted on social media showed an enormous police presence outside the venue.
The shooting occurred after the New Year’s Eve tragedy in New Orleans after a man drove a pickup truck into a crowd of revelers on Bourbon Street. At least 15 people were killed and dozens more were injured in the attack.
