Scott Jennings offers two early predictions marking Trump’s return to power

CNN commentator Scott Jennings began to wrap up the year with early predictions for the incoming administration in 2025.

Joining the panel Sunday for CNN’s “State of the Union,” Jennings had two forecasts for President-elect Donald Trump’s historic return to office in January.

Asked by host Dana Bash for a “crystal ball” look into 2025, the panel dished out their thoughts. Jennings offered up his take on Trump’s upcoming first days in office.

“I have two, one on the domestic front,” the former special assistant to President George W. Bush began.

“I think Republicans are going to pass a few bills between the third and the 20th for Donald Trump to sign on day one,” he said, referring to the 47th president’s first day in office after his inauguration.

“And number two, I‘m going to try to make a prediction for the hope of bringing this into reality,” Jennings added.

“I hope the hostages and believe the hostages will be released. The ones that are still there, we need them back,” he said, referring to the hostages taken captive in Gaza by Hamas terrorists after the October 7 2023 attack against Israel.

“There are a lot of families that have been waiting for a very long time, so I‘m going to predict that they‘re coming back and as soon as possible,” he added.

Democrat panelist Bakari Sellers, a former South Carolina state Representative, chimed in to say he believed the hostages “are coming home.”

“I believe they‘ll come home on Joe Biden‘s watch. I know they‘ve been working diligently to do that, and that‘s my prayer,” he added.

In another segment, Jennings said he could feel “hints of optimism” with the incoming Trump presidency.

“You can start to feel the green shoots of optimism. And so when I look ahead to what he’s going to do at the inaugural and what he could do in the first hundred days of his administration, I hope he senses that from the American people, hits the ground running, and strikes the optimistic notes because I think people are tired of having weak leadership that has taken us off in the wrong direction.”

With the inauguration just a few weeks away, many social media users hoped Jennings’ predictions come true and weighed in on their thoughts about Trump’s first days back in the White House.
