As an “arctic outbreak” stretched across the country, one meteorologist saw a winter wallop as a wonderland during an on-air feat for the anchor’s enjoyment.

Reaching from Central Canada to the Tennessee Valley, the National Weather Service issued an alert through Monday evening with frigid temperatures and large accumulations of snow east of the Great Lakes. Amid words of caution for travelers, meteorologist Mike Seidel still managed to have some fun when Fox News’ Julie Banderas prompted him to make a snow angel.

Near the end of the segment that had included banter about shared appreciation for the “fluffy” precipitation, Seidel had suggested the anchor “hop in an Uber, come on up and we’ll just play in the snow this afternoon and all weekend.”

“God, I wish! If I had more time, I would actually beg you to do a snow angel in 15 inches of snow for us live on TV,” she replied while preparing to move to the next segment.

“I can do one right now. Here we go!” offered the weatherman unhesitatingly as he plopped down in the heavy accumulation to the delight of Banderas. “Oh, I love it!…You are amazing!”

Earlier in the report from Mayville, New York, the anchor had said, “I know most people look at a live cam like this and say, ‘Oh, dear God, that looks awful.’ That looks like heaven to me! Are you enjoying it or are you miserable?”

“Julie, you’re on my team, buddy. I’m gonna sign you up. This is the best! Yes! Adrenaline! Lake effect is the best because you get so many inches per hour,” explained Seidel as he detailed how, at a rate of roughly an inch-and-a-half per hour, they had neared 16 inches of snow by 10 a.m. “And, at 28 degrees, it’s fluffy!”

Accompanying the snowfall, the National Weather Service had forecast temperatures anywhere from 10 to 20 degrees below average in the affected areas of the eastern third of the country and Seidel had captured the perilous road conditions traveling in the dark from Mayville to Fredonia, New York after 30 inches had already accumulated during the ongoing storm.

With high-end predictions suggesting the potential for up to four feet of snow on the ground by Monday, Banderas wasn’t the only one that Seidel made smile as he had repeated his snow angel stunt during another segment aired on Fox Weather Saturday morning after parts of Interstate 90 and 86 had been closed to traffic and the 25-degree temperature was said to feel like only 12.

Before the segment with Banderas had come to a close, the anchor had added her gratitude and told Seidel, “Thank you so much, dry off, and I hope you’re wearing waterproof clothing!”
