Fans demand Fox Sports fire analyst, former NFL star for ‘cowardly’ act during national anthem

Fox Sports NFL analyst Michael Strahan is under heated backlash after his behavior during the playing of the national anthem.

Fans are demanding the “Good Morning America” host be fired for his “cowardly” act during the Fox Veterans Day broadcast from Naval Base San Diego. Strahan, who played 15 seasons with the New York Giants. He was seen during the national anthem standing with his hands in front of him rather than placing a hand over his heart as others in the lineup did.

Standing next to Rob Gronkowski, Strahan briefly appeared in a camera shot that showed the glaring difference between the 52-year-old’s stance and others, including Terry Bradshaw, Curt Menefee, Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson, and Jay Glazer.

The move was slammed as “disrespectful” given the location and the context of the moment ahead of Veterans Day on Monday.

“Michael Strahan disrespected the military during a Veterans Day pre-game show on @NFLonFOX,” Newsmax host Todd Starnes criticized on X. “The great irony is Strahan on a ship surrounded by men and women who would willingly sacrifice their lives to protect his freedom. So, his behavior is not just repugnant, it’s downright cowardly.”

But Strahan has previously spoken of his respect for the military and for veterans. His father, Maj. Gene W. Strahan served for 23 years in the U.S. Army and was “a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division.”

But viewers were not appeased by Strahan’s connection to the military or his past tributes.
