CBS normalizes illegal immigration with 60 Minutes’ hour-long ‘infomercial for Kamala Harris’

CBS News made the case for illegal immigration in an effort to slam former President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plan.

The network’s “60 Minutes” pulled on heartstrings with a report focused on “normal” families who have come into the US illegally and are afraid they will be deported if Trump returns to the White House.

In a series of posts on social media, clips from the “60 Minutes” episode highlighted the emotional plight rather than the issues.

“We are a normal family, like anybody else,” Monica Camacho Perez said in the segment. “We go to church. We work every day. We pay taxes,” she said.

She and her family have reportedly lived and worked in the US  since arriving illegally from Mexico more than 20 years ago.

Not addressed by the CBS show were the effects of the massive illegal immigrant population, such as the cost to care for them, the rise in crime, as well as the strain on local governments. Instead, the show offered commentary from those like Jason Houser, former ICE Chief of Staff under President Joe Biden who claimed Trump’s mass deportation plan “will not make us safer.”

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio spelled out the reality recently.

“So imagine if you’ve been working here for 40 years and your Social Security check is smaller than the benefits going to a 28-year-old, able-bodied person who just got here,” he said. “That’s real. That happens. That’s happening every day. That makes no sense.”

The “60 Minutes” clips posted on X to promote the show only sparked criticism and ignited the anger of Americans. Even an attempt to show Trump’s policy plan in a bad light did not have the intended effect as Tom Homan, former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, dropped a brutal reality check.

“Is there a way to carry out mass deportation without separating families?” correspondent Cecilia Vega asked Homan.

“Of course there is. Families can be deported together,” Homan replied.

The overall attempt to slam Trump’s border plans backfired as social media users weighed in on the alleged separation of families.
