JD Vance’s split-second reaction when a woman shrieks, falls off her chair at Townhall

Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance earned praise after his split-second reaction to a woman’s scream during a town hall event.

The Ohio senator was taking questions during the event at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro, N.C., sitting across the platform from former professional race car driver Danica Patrick who was moderating.

A woman’s shriek could be heard in a video from the town hall and Vance was seen immediately standing up and turning toward the sound.

As it turned out, the woman’s chair had broken beneath her.

“You okay, Ma’am?” Vance asked and when it appeared she was, he joked, “Kamala Harris built this platform behind us.”

That broke the tension and the town hall crowd erupted into laughter and applause.

After confirming that the situation was under control and the woman was unhurt, Vance returned to his seat and the questions.

With less than one month before the pivotal November 5 election, Vance made the stop in the battleground state and discussed a wide range of topics including immigration and the ongoing recovery efforts in the state following Hurricane Helene.

He told the crowd that “once we get past” the recovery phase, “then it’s time to focus on the disastrous federal response to this incredible crisis.”

The senator’s quick action after the scream that interrupted the town hall was lauded on social media where X users commended his reaction.
