Are American history students being misled when it comes to the John F. Kennedy assassination?

Yes, say the authors of The JFK Assassination: Chokeholds that Inescapably Prove There was a Conspiracy.

In April, 2016, CTKA, now Kennedysandking.com, ran an article, The JFK Assassination According to History Textbooks, by Paul Bleau that revealed how history books portray the JFK assassination to a captive audience of history students as a crime perpetrated by Lee Harvey Oswald alone and how most historians sources are mostly restricted to the highly contested Warren Report and a few books that support the lone nut scenario. This study was updated in 2022 with little change in the narrative.

Information and conclusions coming from government investigations that succeeded the Warren Commission are almost completely ignored by the authors of history books.

Paul Bleau’s article claims history book authors seem oblivious to what they could learn from the official investigations that succeeded the Warren Commission as well as the opinions and statements from the actual investigators, lawyers, and staff members who were involved in seven investigations, six of which were governmental.

The article goes on to say that historians are in breach of the American Historical Association code of conduct because, by not updating their findings with more recent official information that contradicts the Warren Commission, they are not honoring the historical record.

History book authors are further being deprived of data by the refusals of Presidents Trump and Biden to declassify documents relating to the assassination as prescribed by the JFK Records Collection Act of 1992.

Over the years many theories, many strong, many shaky, have been put forward as alternatives to the lone nut scenario. The contradictory nature of some of these theories along with the frankly zaniness of others have put the whole area of JFK assassination research under suspicion.

This is why two teachers and three attorneys joined forces to select only the most clear and convincing evidence and explain why, on its own, it is more than enough to prove that the lone nut theory is untenable and that there was a real conspiracy to remove the president and that there has been a cover-up that has been going on ever since.

The result is the book Chokeholds. According to its authors, there are ten such areas of evidence. Each one, on its own, proves that there is a conspiracy. To counter the case made by the authors, one would have disprove each of the following:

– That the official record has impeached the Warren Commission

– Oswald had intelligence connections

– Oswald was often-time impersonated

– Oswald could not have been where the Warren Commission claimed he was when the kill shots were fired

– Jack Ruby was given the mission to kill Oswald

– There were prior plots ro remove JFK

– The Warren Commission was designed to be a whitewash

– The single bullet theory was an ill-conceived fabrication

– There is overwhelming proof of multiple shooters

– There has been sixty years of obstruction of justice

The following is what essayist Edward Curtin stated about Chokeholds in a review of the book when talking about some of his more skeptical friends in academia: “Here is an excellent book, that if they would read it with open minds, would, as its subtitle says, inescapably prove that there was a conspiracy – and if Jack Ruby had not killed Oswald and he (Oswald) had been given a fair trial, he would have been acquitted. Written by James DiEugenio, Paul Bleau, Matt Crumpton, Andrew Iler, and Mark Adamczyk, The JFK Assassination: Chokeholds lives up to its claim and then some.”
