Crazier than fiction! Head of Iranian spy group was an Israeli double agent

In a “plot twist out of a spy movie,” Iran’s former president revealed who had infiltrated his nation’s intelligence team responsible for monitoring spying from the Jewish state.

Calls to merely get out of the way of Israel as they engaged in their counteroffensive against the Islamists responsible for the Oct. 7, 2023 terror attack were well-founded by recent successes. From beeper bombs to the elimination of Hezbollah leadership, the success of Israeli intelligence operations could now include infiltrating the very group tasked with keeping tabs on them.

The claim was provided by former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during an interview with CNN Turk where translations found him accounting for 20 agents from the group turning on Tehran.

Sharing the clip, Michael Elgort wrote on X of the alleged double agents who provided Israel with information about Iran’s nuclear program, including the head of the Iranian Secret Service unit who’d been working within the Islamic Republic, “I can’t stop laughing, @TheMossadIL, that’s too bada** even for you.”

Ahmadinejad went on to reveal that the double agents had allegedly become known to Iran in 2021 at which point they fled to Israel.

Reporting on the spycraft, the Times of Israel detailed, “Other Iranian officials have in the past remarked about Mossad’s penetration in Iran. A former Iranian minister who served as an adviser to former president Hassan Rouhani said in 2022 that senior officials in Tehran should be fearing for their lives due to the ‘infiltration’ of Israel’s spy agency, according to the London-based Persian-language Manoto news site.”

The efforts of Israelis were said to have been key in the airstrike that led to the elimination of Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah Friday as French newspaper Le Parisien said they’d been tipped off by an Iranian mole.

Another example came over the summer when Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed by a bomb while staying at a guesthouse in Tehran after attending the inauguration of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Mossad was said to have planted the bomb two months prior to the lethal explosion.

As a result of decimating the ranks of Hezbollah, Iran retaliated with a missile strike Tuesday that, according to initial reports, had resulted in zero Israeli casualties.

In response, Israel promised that there would “be consequences” and Israel Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari said, “Iran’s attack is a severe and dangerous escalation. Our defensive and offensive capabilities are at the highest of readiness. Our operational plans are ready. We will respond wherever, whenever and however we choose.”

Given the intelligence track record demonstrated by Israel, that hardly seemed in question. People wanted to know when Mossad’s exploits would ultimately earn the Hollywood treatment, “Who would play the Israeli James Bond?”
