A social media user was outed and blasted on the platform after her shocking take on how God must be punishing MAGA supporters with a hurricane.
With the multi-state devastation wrought by Hurricane Helene still being processed, and the number of victims continuing to climb, a Kentucky-based X user with the account @BetsyPackardPo1 shared her unhinged celebration that supporters of former President Donald Trump were being punished.
“Hurricane Helene…what if GOD is punishing MAGA populations for their hate and hypocrisy?” read her post on Sunday evening. “Works for me!”

The shocking post was still up as of Monday morning but plenty of other X users have gotten screenshots of it as well as other posts by the woman, purportedly an instructor at the University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences.
Meet Betsy Packard, an instructor at @UKarts_sciences. She appears to celebrate Hurricane Helene destroying cities because some of those towns are Republican.

Packard took to her account to respond to the backlash, trying to clarify that she did not, in fact, believe in “divine punishment” while calling out those who can “dish it out but can’t take it.”

I erred in thinking Americans could read. I said WHAT IF.

“I’ve been targeted by MAGA stupidity today too,” she wrote in response to another X user’s complaints. “They mock others, but get nasty on the receiving end. And so many can’t read.”
