Elon Musk scrubs post made ‘in jest’ wondering why Trump is the only target of assassins

Stating the obvious found Elon Musk deleting a post made “in jest” after bringing the Biden-Harris White House into the conversation about the latest attempt on the former president’s life.

It appeared that free speech absolutism was not devoid of self-censorship where the world’s richest man was concerned after he brought up a point about the second assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump.

In his since-deleted post on his platform X, Musk reacted to the question “Why they want to kill Donald Trump?” with a thinking face emoji and the message, “And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala…”

The one-way street of selective outrage was marked with unsurprising histrionics as the point was meant as a threat or incitement with calls for the tech mogul to be booted from the country and have his security clearances revoked.

Within hours of the post, Musk expressed, “Well, one lesson I’ve learned is that just because I say something to a group and they laugh doesn’t mean it’s going to be all that hilarious as a post on X,” and, “Turns out that jokes are WAY less funny if people don’t know the context and the delivery is plain text.”

Of course, that didn’t stop the SpaceX CEO from driving home his point amid the gnashing of teeth that collective fearmongering over rhetoric and extremism from the right often neglected firm objections to the violent tendencies of leftist activists who dox public officials, riot at the slightest hint of an offense and, as many believe based on initial reporting about the suspect Ryan Wesley Routh, aim to assassinate the former president.

Having reacted “Hmm” to a nearly two-and-a-half minute supercut of calls from the left for an “uprising” and people to start “taking to the streets,” Musk further supported the idea behind his deleted post by reacting to criticism, “No one has even tried to do so is the point I’m making and no one will.”

Cautioned about people “misinterpreting…obvious intent,” the billionaire agreed, “Fair enough. I don’t want to do what they have done, even in jest.”

He also responded “100” to a post that read “Trump threatens the machine. Biden/Kamala are the machine.”

Furthermore, when commentator Ashley St. Clair shared a post from Harris’ personal account earlier this month that captioned a message: “DONALD TRUMP VOWS TO BE A DICTATOR ON DAY ONE,” with “We won’t let him,” by asking, “What wouldn’t you do to stop an evil dictator?” Musk responded, “They have actively encouraged people to kill Trump. Reid Hoffman said to the whole audience at Sundance that he wished Trump would be ‘real martyr’, ie dead [in real life].”

Meanwhile, The Babylon Bee managing editor Joel Berry succinctly made the same point as Musk had in his deleted post by writing, “Conservatives believe Kamala and her ideology are extremely dangerous to this country and our freedoms, but I have never seen one conservative openly wishing for her death. That’s the main difference between the Left and Right now.”
