Vladimir Putin sends X into a tailspin with Kamala endorsement, praises her ‘fascinating’ laugh

Democrats have been laying the groundwork to resurrect the Russia hoax as the November election looms but Russian President Vladimir Putin may have derailed those plans.

The Biden Justice Department announced indictments and seizures on Wednesday in an effort to combat what it calls Russian disinformation, making the case that the Kremlin is interfering in the 2024 presidential campaign, no doubt in favor of former President Donald Trump.

But on Thursday, the Russian president revealed at a press conference that they are on board the Kamala Harris train, giving a tongue-in-cheek nod to the vice president’s laugh.

“If we can name a favorite candidate, it used to be Joe Biden but now he’s not participating in the election campaign. And he recommended to all his allies to support Ms. Harris, so that is what we are going to do,” Putin reportedly said, according to a translation of his remarks at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.

Another translation read: “I told you our favorite, if you can call it that, was the current President Mr. Biden. He was removed from the race, but he recommended all his supporters to support Ms. Harris. So we will do the same. We will support her.”

“She laughs so expressively and infectiously that it means that everything is fine with her,” he said, and calling her laugh “fascinating” in another translation.

The audience could be seen laughing along with Putin’s remarks which were likely meant to be mocking the idea that Russia would be backing any U.S. candidate.

“If Ms. Harris is doing well, then maybe she will refrain from actions of this kind,” Putin stated after noting the restrictions and sanctions against Russia that have been imposed by the U.S.

“Ultimately, the choice is up to the American people, and we will respect that choice. As for the favorites, it is not up to us to determine that. It is, after all, the choice of the American people,” he added.

Naturally, the mainstream media in the U.S. scrambled to turn back the narrative, with Bloomberg, for example, claiming that “Putin’s comments effectively amounted to presidential trolling.”

A Reuters headline noted that Putin was “teasing” and that he and the moderator “were both smiling as he made the remark.”

Social media reactions poured in as well, with many speculating on what would have happened if he named former President Trump while others cautioned that Putin’s remarks about anything should not be taken “at face value.”
