After former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi went viral for her stage entrance at the Democratic National Convention, the truth was revealed and it wasn’t nearly as funny.

The dramatic moment captured by cameras occurred as the Democrat leader took the stage to deliver her DNC speech on stage Wednesday night. As the pantsuit-clad Pelosi made her way to the podium, something appeared to fall out of her pants.

She gave a quick glance over her shoulder to see what the object was and the Internet was ignited as speculation exploded.

The consensus seemed to be that it was toilet paper.

“Vice President Kamala Harris’ godson Alexander Hudlin’s shoe turned over the item minutes later, revealing a more complex geometrical shape — adding to the mystery,” the New York Post noted.

But the reality was far less entertaining.

A source insisted to The Post that “It was note cards” that contained Pelosi’s speech that were “folded up” and dropped as the former speaker made her way to the microphone. Pelosi gave a short speech and exited without picking up the object, fueling more raucous quips on social media where one X user joked, “Stage hands are quarreling: ‘Who’s going to pick it up? Not me! You! No, you! Not gonna happen!’”

California Democratic congressional candidate Lateefah Simon delivered her speech with the “cards” still on the stage where they had fallen. But, by the time Oprah Winfrey graced the platform, the offending item had been whisked away.

A video shared by political commentator Ian Miles Cheong on X has garnered nearly three million views. Despite the reported explanation of what really fell out of Nancy Pelosi’s pants, X users had a field day with theories.
