CNN analyst surprised when scolded for being too casual in reference to Kamala Harris

Discussions about the way to pronounce Vice President Kamala Harris’s first name seem to be sending Democrats into repeated meltdowns.

And now, the way the VP is even referred to has become an issue.

A panel on “CNN NewsNight” got heated over a purported “lack of respect” when one panelist referred to the presumptive Democrat nominee by her first name.

CNN analyst Coleman Hughes found himself being scolded by CNN contributor Cari Champion on Monday during a talk on Harris’ presidential campaign. As Hughes referred to her as “Kamala” in more than one instance, Champion interrupted to remind him and fellow panelist Solomon Jones, about being respectful of the woman who was crowned President Joe Biden’s successor without earning anyone’s vote.

“Can we also call her vice president? You guys are speaking about her so carefully and casually as if you know her, and I think she deserves the respect,” Champion said.

“Well, I don’t always say President Biden when I say Biden,” Hughes pointed out.

“If we continue in the media to just call her Kamala or whatever name you just called her, it sends a message of lack of respect, and so I think she needs the title and I think she deserves the respect,” Champion, clearly obsessed with the small things, pontificated.

“I think you’re reading that message into it, it’s not an intended message on my part,” Hughes fired back.

The Harris name drama was another on the network which saw a panel on “Anderson Cooper 360” lock horns over the proper way to say the VP’s first name.

“Listen, I don’t want to attack Kamala Harris as an individual,” CNN senior political commentator David Urban said.

“That’s not her name! That’s not her name. Stop, stop, stop, stop. Stop,” CNN political commentator Bakari Sellers interrupted, having a meltdown.

“Shame on you, Bakari! Because you know me better than that, so, shame on you,” Urban fired back. “I’m saying let’s talk about her record.”
