Trump, former colleagues, and friends pay tribute to the ‘Great Lou Dobbs’ after his passing

Former President Donald Trump offered his condolences to the family of veteran journalist Lou Dobbs who passed away Wednesday, according to reports.

“The Great Lou Dobbs has just passed away. A friend, and truly incredible Journalist, Reporter, and Talent,” Trump wrote on Truth Social about the 78-year-old who hosted “Lou Dobbs Tonight” on Fox Business Channel from 2011 to 2021.

“He understood the World, and what was ‘happening,’ better than others. Lou was unique in so many ways, and loved our Country. Our warmest condolences to his wonderful wife, Debi, and family. He will be greatly missed!” Trump added.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of ‘the great Lou Dobbs.’ Lou was a fighter till the very end — fighting for what mattered to him the most, God, his family, and the country,” read a message posted on Dobbs’ official X account on Thursday.

“Lou’s legacy will forever live on as a patriot and a great American,” it continued. “We ask for your prayers for Lou’s wonderful wife Debi, children, and grandchildren.”

“I got to know Lou Dobbs when I was prosecuting Wall Street cheats, and he was the foremost economic reporter in America,” he added.

“His relentless pursuit of truth and justice made him a trusted figure and a beacon of integrity in an industry often fraught with partisan agendas,” Giuliani wrote. “He leaves behind a void that will be difficult to fill, but his spirit and influence will forever remain a part of our lives.”

Dobbs spent more than two decades at CNN before leaving to help launch the Fox Business Network which abruptly canceled his show in early 2021 after settling multi-million dollar lawsuits with voting technology companies Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lou Dobbs. An incredible business mind with a gift for broadcasting, Lou helped pioneer cable news into a successful and influential industry,” a Fox News Media spokesperson said in a statement. “We are immensely grateful for his many contributions and send our heartfelt condolences to his family.”
