A bakery in Australia has deleted controversial photos of Hamas-themed birthday treats that caused outrage and prompted a police investigation.
Oven Bakery by Fufu in Sydney reportedly took down its social media accounts after the outcry over photos of the birthday cake and cupcakes featuring the Palestinian flag and an image of Abu Ubaida, spokesman of Hamas. A photo of a young boy standing next to the cake showed him in a headscarf and clothing similar to Ubaida’s, with a finger in the air to copy the Hamas official’s pose.

The Australian Federal Police are now investigating and the bakery has come under intense backlash.
“Dressing a child up as a terrorist, including with what appears to be a Hamas headband is reprehensible and a form of child abuse,” said Australian Jewish Group chief executive Robert Gregory, according to the Daily Telegraph.
“Islamic extremism and radicalization of youth is not just a problem for the Jewish community. It’s a threat to all Australians,” he added. “Australia has seen several recent incidents of Muslim youth allegedly stabbing or plotting to attack other Australians. Indoctrination starts at a young age and is similar to what is seen across the Middle East.”
Premier Chris Minns slammed the photos as “horrifying.”
“Hamas is an evil terrorist organization. Kids parties should be innocent and fun, not hateful,” he said.

“It takes a rare kind of psychosis to want to teach infant children that Hamas terrorists are to be admired and emulated,” said Alex Ryvchin, co-chief executive of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry.
“If this is what is happening in some Sydney homes, we should prepare for a generation of violent extremists,” he added. “The authorities should be aware of this incident.”
