‘Diddy’ speaks about pummeling ex-girlfriend in video: ‘I was f**ked up’

As Diddy’s denials diminished, a “compelled” apology from the hip-hop mogul smacked of “pathetic desperation” after a years-old violent video surfaced.

Faced with multiple lawsuits and the fallout of having his properties raided by federal agents this year, the reputation of Sean “Diddy” Combs took a new blow Friday when surveillance footage from 2016 was released depicting an alleged assault by him against then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.

By Sunday, the entertainer had released a brief apology video on Instagram admitting to what he had done after years of denial while framing his own state at the time.

“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that,” he began. “I was f*cked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom. But I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable.”

“I take full responsibility for my actions in that video,” said Combs. “I’m disgusted.”

“I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help…going to therapy, going to rehab, had to ask God for his mercy and grace,” continued the apology. “I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”

As had been covered, footage from the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles had shown a towel-clad Combs pursuing a woman said to be Ventura from a room. When he caught up to her outside the elevators, the celebrity could be seen grabbing the victim, throwing her to the ground, kicking at her and attempting to drag her down the hallway.

The video’s release came months after Ventura had settled a lawsuit against Combs, filed in the waning window of the New York Adult Survivors Act that had allowed a temporary suspension of the statute of limitations for victims of abuse to come forward. Her filing, according to a report from CNN, included allegations that the mogul had paid the hotel $50,000 for the security footage.

In response to the apology, Meredith Firetog, one of the attorney’s representing Ventura, released a statement decrying the “disingenuous words.”

“Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt. When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday,” the attorney said. “That he was only compelled to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.”

Joining the criticism of Combs’, rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson added his own commentary on the apology in an Instagram post that read, “This is not going to work, who is advising him right now? [Shaking my head] bad move.”

Likewise, a former investigator with the NYPD’s rap intelligence unit had told Fox News Digital of the surveillance tape, “Everybody’s gonna see this, and they’re gonna see what a real dirtbag he is. The public itself is gonna see him in a different light. The government now is likely gonna accelerate his case.”
