U.S. Rep. Rich McCormick (R-Ga.) is reportedly divorcing his wife of 12 years amid rumors that he has been seen “caressing” a Republican colleague.
Less than two years in office, the Georgia Republican and his oncologist wife Dr. Debra Miller are set to divorce according to Gwinnett County court records, Daily Mail reported.
Miller is McCormick’s second wife and the two share seven children. But Capitol Hill insiders have said they’ve seen the 55-year-old lawmaker “acting overly friendly” toward Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas).
Asked about the reason behind the divorce filing, Miller texted Daily Mail, “I’m sure that he will not be forthcoming.”
The outlet reported that McCormick and Van Duyne were seen in the last few months “holding hands under the table” at the weekly Republican Study Committee lunch, according to a GOP source.

“Two eyewitnesses say they have seen he and Beth holding hands, with one witnessing it as the pair were leaving votes,” Daily Mail reported. “And during the State of the Union on March 7, the two could be seen sitting and laughing together while watching Biden’s speech. McCormick even reached over to gently squeeze Van Duyne’s arm in a tender moment between the pair captured on camera.”
When asked about a possible affair her soon-to-be ex-husband may have been involved in, Miller told the outlet, “You should ask Rich and his colleague.”
In a recent Mother’s Day message on social media, McCormick, a Marine veteran and Emergency Room doctor, made no mention of Miller.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms out there! Today, I want to give a special shoutout to my own mom. As a single mother, she showed me the true meaning of hard work and determination.

“Congressman McCormick and Dr. Miller have been separated for quite some time. He has kept that private and will continue to keep his personal life out of the media spotlight,” a McCormick spokesperson told Daily Mail.
Van Duyne was married for 17 years and shares two children with her former husband whom she divorced in 2012.
Last year, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga. accused McCormick of being physically aggressive toward her after they both introduced resolutions to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.)
“Sources told CNN that in a private meeting with House Speaker Mike Johnson in December, Greene claimed her male colleague ‘grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her’ and asked the Speaker to address the issue,” Daily Mail noted.
“I understand why there would be a lot of raw emotions following the censure vote given that her censure was tabled and mine passed. My intention was to encourage Rep. Greene by making a friendly gesture,” McCormick said at the time.
