Washington D.C. has become a “war zone” in the eyes of Sen. Roger Marshall who fears for the safety of employees walking to work each day.
The Kansas Republican spoke about the conditions in the district with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, asserting the need to protect the federal district amid the migrant crisis wrought by President Joe Biden and his administration.
“I just want to make sure your listeners understand: Washington DC has become a war zone. I fear for the safety and life of my workers on Capitol Hill walking to and from work,” the senator said on “Mornings with Maria” Tuesday.
Marshall wants to see law-and-order officials running the district and is pushing for legislation that will require “proof of citizenship” for anyone to vote in elections in D.C. He introduced the Demanding Citizenship in D.C. Elections Act which would mandate that only American citizens can vote in the district.
Rep. August Pfluger (R-Texas) is working toward the same goal and recently posted a flyer that instructs “non-citizen voters” how to take part in local elections.
“Starting in 2024, qualified non-citizen District of Columbia residents may vote in local elections, per the Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2022,” the District of Columbia Board of Elections website explains.
“Specifically, under District of Columbia law, non-citizen residents may vote in District of Columbia elections held for the offices of Mayor, Attorney General, member(s) of the DC Council, member(s) of the State Board of Education, or Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner(s), or to vote on initiative, referendum, recall, or charter amendment measures that appear on District of Columbia ballots,” the site notes, adding that “Non-citizens cannot vote for federal offices.”
You won’t believe this flyer. The DC government wants noncitizens voting in their elections—including illegal aliens and foreign nationals like Chinese and Russian agents.

Marshall warned that illegal migrants will “absolutely” be voting in elections this November. Though current laws prevent non-citizens from voting for president, Marshall argued that the line will be blurred when it comes to enforcing that at polling booths.
“Washington D.C. is a federal district, it’s not a state,” Marshall asserted. “So therefore Congress oversees those elections. We need people electing a mayor who is going to keep people safe.”
It’s unacceptable for anyone who isn’t a U.S. citizen to vote in any election, and Democrat-run D.C. is no exception. Proud to introduce this bill with @RogerMarshallMD to ensure we have free & fair elections in D.C. that represent the will of American voters, not illegal aliens. https://t.co/duVklCXTTK

“The Democrats and the DNC’s takeover of our elections in Washington, D.C., undermines our Democracy, and they do not even try to hide it. This is election interference by design, with the ultimate goal being the unraveling of our free and fair elections by engineering the largest-scale invasion of our country and turning them out at the ballot box to perpetually ‘cook the books’ for Democrats,” Marshall said in a statement earlier this month.
“Make no mistake: Joe Biden sees these 11 million illegal aliens now on U.S. soil as Democrat voters,” Marshall said. “We the people must fight back; too much is at stake. Our Democracy as we know it is under attack by this administration, and while this legislation is a great first step, much more needs to be done.”
