Georgia appeals court to consider Trump request to disqualify DA Fani Willis

In a very welcome development for former President Trump, the Georgia Court of Appeals has agreed to review his request to appeal the ruling that District Attorney Fani Willis can remain on his election interference case.

“Judge McAfee’s order in March said that special prosecutor Nathan Wade had to be removed in order to keep Willis from disqualification in the Trump election interference case in Georgia. Willis and Wade were alleged to have had an ‘improper’ affair,” Fox News reported.

“Trump and several co-defendants alleged Willis and Wade were romantically involved prior to his hiring and that she financially benefited from the relationship. Both Willis and Wade denied those allegations,” the media outlet added.

Trump was allowed to appeal the judge’s ruling. On Wednesday, the appeals court said they would hear the defense’s case to remove Willis from the proceedings.

“The GA Court of Appeals has GRANTED President Trump’s Application for Interlocutory Appeal from the trial court’s order refusing to disqualify Fulton County DA Fani Willis!!!,” Trump attorney Steve Sadow wrote on X.

NBC News noted, “The order said that Trump can file a notice of appeal within the next 10 days.”

It is unknown when the case will be reviewed as a date has not been set yet but the election interference witch hunt looks to be stalled in Georgia for quite some time due to this ruling.

According to CNN, “Trump attorney Steve Sadow said the former president ‘looks forward to presenting interlocutory arguments to the Georgia Court of Appeals as to why the case should be dismissed and Fulton County DA Willis should be disqualified for her misconduct in this unjustified, unwarranted political persecution.'”

This follows a federal judge in Florida on Tuesday indefinitely postponing Trump’s trial alleging the mishandling of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate. The Supreme Court also has not ruled on Trump’s arguments concerning presidential immunity which have far-reaching implications for charges brought against him.

The only case to make it to trial against Trump is the flimsiest of the bunch… his so-called “hush money” case in New York starring porn star Stormy Daniels and attorney Michael Cohen who has an admitted issue with telling the truth.
