A Cadbury chocolate store is under fire for its insulting name choice of products being sold for Easter.
The UK store is being ripped for advertising its Easter-themed chocolate eggs as “gesture eggs,” according to The Telegraph.
“The brand’s discount store in Springfields Outlet in Spalding, Lincolnshire, is displaying signs offering customers a two-for-£10 deal on ‘gesture eggs,'” the outlet reported. “The omission of the word ‘Easter’, particularly when advertising its popular Easter eggs synonymous with the religious holiday, has provoked anger among the Christian community.”
Cadbury’s Chocolate store slammed for renaming Easter Eggs ‘Gesture Eggs’ to avoid upsetting those of different faiths.

“If it wasn’t for Easter, we wouldn’t have a reason for Easter eggs,” Tim Dieppe, the head of public policy at Christian Concern, told the UK paper. “So I’m wondering why Cadbury wants to erase the connection between Easter and eggs, because if people stop celebrating Easter then they might stop buying Easter eggs.”
“I’m surprised that they are avoiding saying the word ‘Easter’, as that’s the time of year – it’s the Easter holidays, the Easter festival – and I’m surprised they’d want to avoid reference to Easter with things like this,” he added.
Can we rename Ramadan To Daylight Diet?

So the dominant religion in the country for millennia has to change to accommodate an invading religion. Does this mean Christians can go to Pakistan and insist the word Ramadan is replaced with Lent on all advertising and products? No, didn’t think so.

Of course, the chocolate company’s defense was that the store is run “completely independently” and that location made the decision to advertise the “gesture eggs.” This did not seem to line up with the fact that Cadbury would not likely be out of the loop in decisions affecting its product.

So, in an effort not to offend those who do not celebrate Easter, it seems the “gesture egg” was born, negating Easter which is the very foundation of the Christian faith. Cadbury continues to sell its Easter eggs – with no name change – but the image of “gesture eggs” at the UK store triggered heated blowback online.
FGS, we are a Christian country, this is one of the most important dates in the Christian year. Sod off Cadbury, won’t be buying any of your eggs. https://t.co/SNRwzOZAXg

One store huh, you sure about that? They have their own label and packaging maker and everything?

I have a “gesture” for this. It’s not polite.
