Fox’s Doocy gets Karine Jean-Pierre all wound up on a Biden-Trump Debate

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre lamented being a “broken record” on Wednesday as Fox News reporter Peter Doocy repeatedly asked her about an election debate.

“Now that the field is down to two, is President Biden going to commit to a debate with Donald Trump?” Doocy asked at the White House press briefing after news that Nikki Haley had suspended her campaign.

“That’s something for the campaign to speak to,” Jean-Pierre replied and repeated her answer again.

“Why is this a campaign thing?” Doocy asked after noting how Biden had relished the idea of debating Trump back in 2020.

“Because it’s an election. It’s a debate for the 2024 presidential election,” Jean-Pierre replied.

Doocy persisted in trying to elicit a specific answer while the press secretary continued to provide non-answers, at one point telling the Fox News correspondent that Biden would detail his plans in Thursday’s State of the Union address.

“So, just for clarity, it’s possible that there will be no Joe Biden-Donald Trump debates this fall?” Doocy asked.

“Is that what you’re excited about? Is that what you want to see?” Jean-Pierre fired back.

“I would love to see —” he started to answer before Jean-Pierre cut in, “Because you keep asking me.”

“You asked me about three, four, five different times in different ways,” Jean-Pierre said, harkening back to how Biden handled “heckling” Republicans at last year’s State of the Union address.

“You literally saw just last year, back in January 2023 at the last State of the Union, take on Republicans [while] giving a major speech,” she said. “He took them on as they were heckling him. He took them on and said he was going to fight for programs — essentially said he was fighting for programs that the American people needed. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid. He stood there and fought for the American people. I mean, that was pretty impressive.”

Former President Donald Trump has challenged President Joe Biden to debate him “anytime, anywhere, anyplace.”

“It is important, for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate Issues that are so vital to America, and the American People,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Wednesday. “Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE! The Debates can be run by the Corrupt DNC, or their Subsidiary, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD).”

“I look forward to receiving a response. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he added.
