A woman was arrested after she reportedly “instigated” a fight between two students at a Florida bus stop, yelling at one of them to “beat her a—,” as seen in video footage.
The shocking scene was caught on camera as Taityana D. Duffy, 28, was seen in footage provided by the Haines City Police Department, as she seemed first to encourage the physical confrontation between the students, then get involved herself.
“The incident, which took place on March 1, 2024, started as a confrontation between two juveniles waiting for the school bus. However, it quickly escalated into a physical confrontation with the adult family member of one of the participants instigating the fight, leading to charges of battery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor,” the police department reported.
“Officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of the altercation and arrived to find a complex situation with multiple people involved. The Initial investigation revealed that a verbal confrontation, quickly escalated to physical violence, with one juvenile repeatedly striking another,” the report posted on Facebook continued.
Police say Duffy, who was the guardian of a student at the bus stop, “was found to have instigated, jeered, and intervened in the fight, even battering another juvenile during the incident.”
After gathering information and speaking with witnesses, police arrested Duffy and one of the students.
“The juvenile has been charged with battery, while Duffy faces charges of battery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor,” according to law enforcement.
In a statement, Chief of Police Greg Goreck called out the irresponsible behavior of adults in the situation.
“The involvement of an adult in encouraging and participating in a teenage fight at a bus stop is unacceptable and deeply concerning,” he said.
“This behavior not only escalates violence but also fails our community’s expectation of an adults’ responsibility to help safeguard our children. Our department is taking this matter seriously and will act to prevent such incidents in the future,” Goreck added.
