Kevin McCarthy ripped Matt Gaetz at an impromptu press conference this week, claiming he probably lies about who he is sleeping with and exaggerates his ties to Trump.
The former speaker of the House is evidently embarking on a revenge tour against Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and other Republicans he feels have done him wrong. Gaetz was the one who filed a motion to vacate against Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). It led to his ouster and paved the way for Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) to take his place.
McCarthy spoke with reporters on Capitol Hill Tuesday where he contended Gaetz embellished exactly how close he is to former President Trump. He then made the crack about the Florida Republican and “who he sleeps with.” That seems to be in reference to allegations by leftists that Gaetz was somehow involved in sex trafficking. The Justice Department never brought charges against Gaetz but a House Ethics Committee probe is still ongoing.
Gaetz has vigorously denied any wrongdoing and has jabbed at McCarthy for attempting to give life to the accusations.

Gaetz wasn’t the only one to get smeared by McCarthy in a petty, unprofessional manner in his first press conference since leaving the House of Representatives in December. He also went after Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), asserting that she can’t hold on to staff working for her.
“I just hope she gets the help to straighten out her life,” McCarthy told reporters.
When reporters pressed McCarthy on whether he had ever spoken to Trump about Gaetz getting him booted, the former speaker of the House intimated that Gaetz and Trump were not that close.
“I don’t know how close you probably think the president is to Gaetz, but you should probably figure that out,” he commented in audio first aired Wednesday by CNN.
McCarthy made his dislike of Gaetz very evident to reporters, calling him a liar.
Kevin McCarthy tonight on Matt Gaetz…suggesting he may go to jail:
“I think people see now how far Matt Gaetz will go & the fear he has of what’s in the ethics complaint…I think at the end—Gaetz will have a hard time being a member of Congress & staying out of jail, too.” https://t.co/i9GU6a2KOj pic.twitter.com/jx9OnNRIxx

“They’re not actually that close? … Gaetz makes it out to be like they’re…” a reporter said to McCarthy.
“I’m sure. Gaetz probably makes a lot up. He probably lies about who he sleeps with too,” he stated.
McCarthy has previously vowed that he will work to remove those who ousted him in the House. He is a top fundraiser for the GOP and controls a massive war chest that allegedly could help him accomplish that.
Gaetz shot back at McCarthy on X in response to his digs, “What stage of grief is this?”

Gaetz continued to hammer McCarthy according to Semafor political reporter Kadia Goba.
“The ghost of Christmas past visited us here in the halls of the Capitol and Kevin McCarthy apparently said that I wasn’t as well liked by President Trump as I thought but I recall President Trump asking me to go campaign for him in Iowa and NH,” Gaetz remarked to reporters.
“And there’s a reason President Trump hasn’t asked Kevin McCarthy to go campaign for him anywhere. It’s because on almost any stage in the Trump campaign, Kevin McCarthy would be booed off of it,” he added.

The feud will evidently continue between the two Republicans as it is apparent McCarthy has Gaetz in his sights and holds a grudge against him.
