Joe Biden won’t do a sit-down, instead trolls with ‘Dark Brandon’ meme about rigged Superbowl

Skipping the Super Bowl didn’t stop “Dark Brandon” from being a super troll leaning into a Taylor Swift conspiracy.

Leading up to the Las Vegas matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, President Joe Biden opted out of the pregame interview for the second consecutive year. Instead, after closing out the week with a PR mess over his mental fitness, his re-election campaign picked up the thread that Swift’s relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was influential in their ultimate 25-22 win at Super Bowl LVIII.

“Just like we drew it up,” Biden’s personal social media account captioned an image of himself with red laser eyes.

The image itself had come about as an attempt to positively spin the “Let’s Go Brandon” slogan that had come about after race fans at Talladega Superspeedway had been heard chanting “F*ck Joe Biden” during a live interview with Brandon Brown in Oct. 2021, leading a reporter to state she heard the former.

Much like the pop star, expected to once again endorse Biden, becoming a prominent fixture at Chiefs’ games throughout the season, reactions were mixed on the president even being tongue-at-cheek about suggesting his administration had the pull to orchestrate the outcome of the NFL season to benefit his campaign.

“Sir this is next level trolling. You are awarded 10/10,” wrote one as many others had initially thought the verified account was a parody.

It also wasn’t his only social media post of the night to peddle the conspiracy that he was plotting around the “Swiftie” vote as the campaign, having already hired hundreds of influencers toward swaying low-information voters, launched their own TikTok account with a video that only stood to suggest Biden was not in charge of his administration.

As the game began, his campaign shared a video of Biden being asked which team he favored under the caption, “Hey by the way, we just joined TikTok.”

“Two great quarterbacks, but if I didn’t say I was for the Eagles then I’d be sleeping alone. My wife’s a Philly girl,” said the president before he was ultimately asked, “Deviously plotting to rig the season so the Chiefs would make the Super Bowl or the Chiefs just being a good football team?”

“I’d get in trouble if I told you,” suggested Biden for the umpteenth time, giving the impression that he took marching orders from someone else.

That idea was honed in on in the replies as the campaign’s use of the Chinese Communist Party-influenced social media app, which the president himself had promoted banning government employees from using, left many calling out concerns over the Asian nation’s influence on the White House.

“Oh back in China’s pocket now. Things must look really bad in the polling,” offered one account as another said of the launch, “The internal polling must be terrible in the 18-24 demographic.”
