Trump responds to ‘horrendous’ Senate border bill with stinging ‘death wish’ warning to GOP

With national security at stake, the former president reacted to the Senate’s “horrendous” security agreement with a stern warning for the GOP.

“Don’t be STUPID!!!”

Reports of the 370-page, $118 billion Senate bill proved rumors true as it allocated a $60 billion majority to Ukraine, $10 billion to Gaza and a mere $20 billion toward immigration enforcement. Likewise, its inclusion of language allowing for nearly 2 million illegal entries per year and presidential authority to green light more prompted former President Donald Trump to unload on the legislation.

“Only a fool, or a Radical Left Democrat, would vote for this horrendous Border Bill, which only gives Shutdown Authority after 5000 Encounters a day, when we already have the right to CLOSE THE BORDER NOW, which must be done,” he began his Monday morning Truth Social post. “This Bill is a great gift to the Democrats, and a Death Wish for The Republican Party.”

Trump continued, “It takes the HORRIBLE JOB the Democrats have done on Immigration and the Border, absolves them, and puts it all squarely on the shoulders of Republicans. Don’t be STUPID!!!”

Ahead of the Senate’s late Sunday release of the language of the “border security” bill, the president had appeared on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo where he spoke to the extreme threat against national security that came as a result of incumbent President Joe Biden’s policies.

“And I believe we’re going to have a terrorist attack — 100%. 100%,” he told the host. “You know, during my term I had no terrorist attacks. You know that, right? I had all sorts of bans on people from certain countries. I had bans all over the place. We had no attack. I had nothing.”

Offering an alternative with a reminder as to the policies that brought the country to this point, Trump continued on Truth Social, “We need a separate Border and Immigration Bill. It should not be tied to foreign aid in any way, shape, or form! The Democrats broke Immigration and the Border. They should fix it. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

Promoted by a bipartisan group of negotiators that included Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy (D), Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I) and Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford (R), who famously changed his position to certify the 2020 presidential election when his address on the Senate floor had been interrupted midway by the Capitol breach, the proposed bill had already been handed a death sentence from House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) as the contents were exposed.

“I’ve seen enough,” he posted on X. “This bill is even worse than we expected, and won’t come close to ending the border catastrophe the President has created. As the lead Democrat negotiator proclaimed: Under this legislation, ‘the border never closes.’ If this bill reaches the House, it will be dead on arrival.”

The effort to normalize allowing up to 5,000 entries per day was equally met by a resounding “HELL NO” from figures across the political landscape.
