Elon Musk triggered leftists when he commented on the “insane” laws in some states that allow voting without showing any identification.
The billionaire owner of X dropped his thoughts on the social media platform on Monday, seeming to have suddenly come to a realization about state voter ID laws which was mostly true.
“In the USA, you don’t need government issued ID to vote and you can mail in your ballot,” Musk wrote. “This is insane.”
Almost immediately, he was attacked for creating “a new conspiracy” as leftists melted down.
Our entire military votes by mail. Are you claiming they shouldn’t be allowed to vote? Several states have mail-in voting only. Also, voter registration requires details and identification only voters have. Why are you trying to create an new conspiracy?

False. When I used the mail in ballots system in 2020, they had to verify my identity with government issued I.D.
Delete this post Elon.. it’s incorrect!— Ashleigh London (@ashleighlondon) January 8, 2024
Bullshit. For real context, you need a government issued ID to register to vote. Immigrants have their own issued ID number and cannot vote or register to vote in elections.
Funny they never complained about mail ins when they won (mail in ballots helped Bush & Trump win). https://t.co/y7vipfmFfE— Anonymous (@YourAnonNews) January 9, 2024
While the voter ID laws Musk referred to are not the same in all states, the point he was making seemed easy enough for many to understand. Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton provided some context.
Some more detail for @ElonMusk‘s voter fraud tweet below:
Only 10 states have strict voter ID requirements, 15 states have NO voter ID requirements, and the rest need to strengthen their laws.
37 states have no-excuse absentee or all-mail voting. It is difficult — if not… https://t.co/I9IQVBz7OK— Tom Fitton (@TomFitton) January 9, 2024

We should require government ID and in-person voting (unless valid medical/ military/etc excuse), like other countries do or like if you want to buy beer

If elections are open for 16 hours, essentially everyone can vote
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) January 9, 2024
Many pointed to the obvious in Musk’s initial reaction to voter ID laws, including Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
Unless that’s the point.

Yes, and they’ll call you a racist or an election denier if you bring it up
— Charlie Kirk (@charliekirk11) January 9, 2024
It’s kind of crazy how if someone points this out they’re immediately tarred and feathered as an election denier. Doesn’t change the facts. https://t.co/zeulVpyvwb

It’s by design to help one party win. The same reason the border is wide open. They can’t win without cheating. https://t.co/VIW4I4AzAi

You need ID to see a rated R movie. You need ID to buy cigarettes. You need ID to buy alcohol. You need ID to drive. You don’t need ID to vote. It doesn’t make sense.

The Left has always claimed that voter ID is racist. It always seemed way more racist to me to suggest that minority citizens somehow don’t have the capacity to get an ID. https://t.co/W4lPlfKvwy

It’s racist to claim that an adult is incapable of obtaining ID!
