NY Times whines that Republicans are bullying anti-Semitic universities

Ivy League school presidents were grilled for hours by lawmakers about their response to antisemitism on their campuses.

In covering the House Committee on Education and the Workforce hearing on Tuesday, the left-wing New York Times chose to keep it real by making the antisemitism accusations all about Republicans.

In a headline about the hearing, the paper claimed Republican lawmakers tried to put the school presidents “on the defensive.”

Harvard University President Claudine Gay, University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology President Sally Kornbluth faced tense questioning by lawmakers.

“Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate Penn’s rules or code of conduct, yes or no?” Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.),  asked during the five-hour session.

“If the speech turns into conduct, it can be harassment,” Magill replied.

But The New York Times led its report on the hearing by saying the school leaders were “hammered” by GOP House members “who claimed that the universities themselves had sown seeds of bias on campus against Jews.”

The article went on to claim that GOP members of the panel “seemed to have little interest in speaking in the language of academia. They yoked rising antisemitism on college campuses to other hot-button issues that have helped animate G.O.P. politics for the last several years.”

“And so for much of the day, the presidents of some of the country’s most prestigious universities found themselves on the defensive in the face of mostly hostile questioning,” the post continued.

In the very last paragraph, it was conceded that “At least a few Democrats were frustrated.”

The Times was ripped on social media for its take on the hearing:
