In THE game of the day on Sunday, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw was ejected after being called for a personal foul during a scuffle with the Philadelphia Eagles Security Chief Dom DiSandro.

“With nearly 9½ minutes left in the third quarter, Greenlaw tackled Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith near the Birds’ sideline, lifting Smith up from the waist and slamming him to the ground,” NBC News reported. “Referees threw a flag against Greenlaw for the tackle.”
As the two players recovered from the play and faced off, a fight broke out between Eagles players, staff members, and some of the 49ers’ players.
At that point, Dom DiSandro, who is the Eagles’ head of security, reportedly pushed Greenlaw away to separate him and Smith.
“Greenlaw then extended his arm, appearing to point as he yelled at DiSandro. His hand appeared to hit DiSandro’s face, forcing the referees to eject Greenlaw from the game,” NBC News noted.

There was loud booing from Eagles Fans in the stands as Greenlaw left the field during the NFC title game rematch at The Linc to go to the locker room.
“DiSandro was also removed from the game but was rewarded with a standing ovation from Philly fans at Lincoln Financial Field, as well as pats on the back from members of the coaching staff as he walked off,” NBC News added.
It should be noted that the NFL home office communicates with officials at games and can be involved in decisions such as the ejection of a player.
USA Today pointed out, “Greenlaw was punished for [a] portion of the incident that never should have occurred – a non-player on the sideline who had the audacity to interject himself into the situation and put his hands on a player from the opposing team.”
Later, Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers’ head coach, was seen yelling at officials over the decision to give Greenlaw the boot.
“That’s why I tried my hardest not to lose my mind. I hope I didn’t embarrass myself too bad,” Shanahan said. “I didn’t get to see it all from where I’m at but when I started hearing people explain it to me and stuff, I just can’t believe someone uninvolved in a football game can taunt our players like that and put their hands in our guy’s face. … It was a very frustrating play. I have to watch it to have a true opinion on it. I love how we rallied after.”

San Francisco legend Jerry Rice, one of the greatest wide receivers to play the game, took to social media after the incident to say of DiSandro, “I would’ve punched him!”
It appears that the NFL will seek to make an example of DiSandro over the incident.
“A ‘high-level executive’ predicted to Pro Football Talk ‘there will be significant punishment imposed’ both on Dom DiSandro and the Eagles after Philadelphia’s senior advisor to the general manager/chief security officer touched 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw to break up a scuffle, which led to Greenlaw hitting DiSando and both men being ejected,” the New York Post stated.
“Team security officials are not in-game bouncers. Keeping the peace is the job of the officials,” Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio commented on Sunday according to the New York Post. “Non-players who insinuate themselves into the game action risk losing access to the game area.”
Not long after that incident occurred, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts also left the field after he was slow to get up from a play. He was reportedly evaluated for a concussion but returned to the game.
In the end, the 49ers won the game 42 to 19.
