Former President Donald Trump unloaded on MSNBC and the “slimeball” CEO of its parent company Comcast in an explosive social media tirade calling out the “hit job” against him.
Trump called on the “government” to come down on the network and “make them pay” for their “illegal political activity” in a Truth Social post late Tuesday that suggested the network’s attacks constitute “election interference.”
“MSNBC (MSDNC) uses FREE government approved airwaves, and yet it is nothing but a 24 hour hit job on Donald J. Trump and the Republican Party for purposes of ELECTION INTERFERENCE,” the former president wrote.
“Brian Roberts, its Chairman and CEO, is a slimeball who has been able to get away with these constant attacks for years. It is the world’s biggest political contribution to the Radical Left Democrats who, by the way, are destroying our Country,” Trump continued.
“Our so-called ‘government’ should come down hard on them and make them pay for their illegal political activity. Much more to come, watch!” he concluded.
Back in 2021, Trump blasted Comcast executives as “terrible human beings.”
“The good news is that the ratings of CNN and MSDNC, which is just a terrible group of people, that whole NBC group and Comcast group, these are terrible people, terrible human beings … they’re just disgusting,” he said in the interview with Right Side Broadcasting.
He added, “if you look at CNN and MSNDC, their numbers are down the tubes, and that’s a good thing.”
“But these are bad people over at Comcast,” Trump said at the time.
On his latest Truth Social attack on MSNBC, the GOP 2024 frontrunner was predictably called out by the leftist media for “falsely” claiming MSNBC “uses FREE government approved airwaves,” while it actually is on cable.
Deadline was happy to clear things up:
A bit of background: MSNBC is a cable network, so it does not use the public airwaves. Yet even if it was a broadcast outlet, the FCC has been clear that it will not regulate news programming content. The Fairness Doctrine, which required that broadcasters present an array of viewpoints on controversial issues, was abandoned more than 35 years ago during Ronald Reagan’s presidency.
The Federal Election Commission expenditure rules, meanwhile, exclude the news media, or more specifically, “any cost incurred in covering or carrying a news story, commentary, or editorial by any broadcasting station (including a cable television operator, programmer or producer).”
In September, Trump vowed if he is re-elected that MSNBC “will be thoroughly scrutinized for their knowingly dishonest and corrupt coverage of people, things, and events.”
“They are almost all dishonest and corrupt, but Comcast, with its one-side and vicious coverage by NBC NEWS, and in particular MSNBC, often and correctly referred to as MSDNC (Democrat National Committee!), should be investigated for its ‘Country Threatening Treason,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.
