An about-face by a Chicago professor after calling Israelis “pigs,” “savages,” and “irredeemable excrement” has left many questioning the sincerity of the mea culpa.
The self-proclaimed “radically optimistic transsexual climate scientist” with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago offered an abrupt turnaround with a statement that sought to walk back the previous day’s rant which closed in a wish for Israelis to “all rot in hell.”
The since-deleted Instagram story post from Mika Tosca on Tuesday hurled insults and declared, “After the past week, if your eyes aren’t open to the crimes against humanity that Israel is committing and has committed for decades and will continue to commit, then I suggest you open them.”

But in a whirlwind change of tune, the associate professor reportedly came back with an apology on Wednesday.
“Yesterday, I wrote some things on my Instagram story that I unequivocally reject and do not stand behind,” Tosca’s post began.
“I am deeply sorry for writing what I wrote, and for hurting many people with my words, and I am especially sorry to Israeli people that I broadly placed at fault for the war. You did not — and do not — deserve that, and I was wrong to post what I posted; I know that my words perpetuated harmful stereotypes.”

Tosca added, “I am taking proactive steps to learn how I can do better and be better.”
“To the many Israeli and Jewish people who I hurt with my words: I am truly sorry. I own my mistake and promise to be better,” the professor concluded. “I hope you can forgive me.”
Meanwhile, the school said in a statement that it “repudiates” Tosca’s views, but did not address the professor by name.
“One member of our community expressed hateful views, which SAIC repudiates. Those views are not reflective of the school or the values we as a community share,” the School of the Art Institute of Chicago said in a statement to Blaze News regarding the post on X.
The professor’s quick apology did not seem to hit the target for many who questioned whether the regret was genuine while many called on the school to take action.
