Fetterman puts on big boy pants and slams fellow Dems’ rush to blame Israel for hospital blast

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Penn.) found it “truly disturbing” that some of his Democrat colleagues in Congress rushed to blame Israel for a rocket attack on a hospital in Gaza.

In a statement posted on social media, Fetterman called out those who bought the narrative and reacted to reports that Israel had launched an airstrike that took out the al-Ahli hospital in Gaza. Israeli officials rebutted the reports and it was later confirmed that it was actually a failed rocket launch by Palestinian terrorists, but many Democrats did not wait for details, instead lambasting Israel for the explosion.

“It’s truly disturbing that Members of Congress rushed to blame Israel for the hospital tragedy in Gaza,” Fetterman wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Who would take the word of a group that just massacred innocent Israeli civilians over our key ally?”

“I will always stand with Israel and look forward to supporting any military, intelligence, or humanitarian aid to get the job done,” he added.

He also spoke to reporters about the situation, reiterating his comments on social media.

Fetterman’s criticism came after members of the far-left ‘Squad’ including Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and Cori Bush (D-Mo.) joined other voices in condemning Israel.

“Israel just bombed the Baptist Hospital killing 500 Palestinians (doctors, children, patients) just like that,” Tlaib had tweeted, telling President Joe Biden “this is what happens when you refuse to facilitate a ceasefire & help de-escalate.”

In a strongly worded statement, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) seemed to insinuate that Israel was guilty of war crimes.

But the verbal attacks on Israel were unfounded as a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces threw cold water on the flaming rhetoric.

On Wednesday, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Mark Warner (D-Va.)  indicated that his committee “reviewed intelligence” that showed Israel was not responsible.

“The Senate Intelligence Committee reviewed intelligence related to the attack on al-Ahli hospital in Gaza. Based on this information, we feel confident that the explosion was the result of a failed rocket launch by militant terrorists and not the result of an Israeli airstrike,” Warner wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Biden’s acknowledgment of the airstrike being perpetrated by the “other team” set off howls of mockery and anger.

Fetterman continued to address the Gaza hospital in follow-up tweets on Wednesday.

He also addressed the calls for a ceasefire, slamming those who have been clamoring for one.

“Now is not the time to talk about a ceasefire,” he said. “We must support Israel in their efforts to eliminate the Hamas terrorists who slaughtered innocent men, women, and children. Hamas does not want peace, they want to destroy Israel. We can talk about a ceasefire after Hamas is neutralized.”
