Singer Alicia Keys faced intense backlash for her alleged “sick ode to the Hamas terrorists;” forced to defend a “COMPLETELY unrelated” post about activity she’d do if she “weren’t afraid of anything.”
The 15-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and wife to Muslim music producer Kasseem Dean, better known as Swiss Beatz, became the center of controversy Monday for what, at the very least, appeared to be an ill-timed missive to her more than 27 million followers.
After getting shredded over appearing to support and fantasizing about participating in the Hamas terror attacks against Israel, in particular the massacre that took place at the Supernova Festival, Keys was quick to delete the post for her Instagram account featuring her in a racing jacket sporting the colors of the group.
“Question: What would u do if you weren’t afraid of anything??? Tell me your truth…I’ve had my eyes on paragliding….” the post had read with the hashtag “mondayenergy.”
Liked nearly 42,000 times at the moment the organization StopAntisemitism screenshot it, the non-partisan group captioned her message, “In a now deleted tweet, Alicia Keys shares an IG post about trying paragliding if she wasn’t afraid. Is this some sick ode to the Hamas terrorists that infiltrated Israel, killed over 1300 people, beheaded babies, raped women, and kidnapped Holocaust survivors [Alicia Keys]?”

That post was ultimately deleted after a Community Note was added making reference to the fact that Keys had removed her original message and shared a non-apology asserting there was never meant to be a connection to Hamas on her social media.
“The post I shared earlier was COMPLETELY unrelated in any way to the recent devastating loss of innocent lives. My heart has been breaking…I pray for and stand for peace,” the singer wrote.
By then, the damage had already been done and many, including figures like Megyn Kelly and Kimberly Klacik, had called attention to it.
Kelly demanded to know, “My God how is this not EVERYWHERE right now?? ALICIA KEYS can post THIS and it gets ignored?? No explanation? HELL NO,” as Klacik contended, “Alicia Keys is very involved in politics. There’s no way she mistakenly posted about paragliding at this time. Sorry @CommunityNotes, check her other posts for reference.”
Others heaped on with their own takes like, “This is absolutely disgusting. Wow. I don’t know why I’m shocked, but this level of despicable, vile, hatred of Jews is shocking to me. It’s so blatant…”

She knew what she said, make no mistake
I bet some of her music was played at the festival too

Meanwhile, others rose to Keys’ defense and noted that her neighborhood in San Diego, California is near the Torrey Pines Gliderport and that she had even said during a 2021 appearance on “The Breakfast Club” that it was something she wanted to try.
Israeli-born talent manager Guy Oseary posted a lengthy message in support on his own Instagram without specifying how his singer friend had slighted the victims and survivors in Israel.
“There’s talk of an antisemitic post that my dear friend Alicia Keys had up on her instagram. I can confirm to anyone in my [Jewish] community that needs to hear it: it’s NOT true. There was a specific word in her post that our community at this very painful time find very triggering,” Oseary wrote, “but it was absolutely not connected in any way. I spoke to Alicia and she was horrified to learn what the word implied and immediately took it down. Alicia has always been a fighter for all human rights. I’ve had a front row seat for over a decade of seeing her positive influence in the world. Her humanitarian work reflects her empathy and her heart.”

If you think Alicia Keys is sending coded messages in support of Hamas on Instagram you shouldn’t be allowed to drive without supervision

I genuinely did not have “people try to cancel Alicia Keys because they believe her expressing she wants to try paragliding while wearing green as meaning she’s a Hamas provocateur” on my 2023 bingo card https://t.co/WpaiNNo0Np

I can’t believe Alicia Keys making a post about wanting to try paragliding is being falsely compared to “supporting Hamas”
Alicia Keys has played in israel and collaborated with Israeli artists. The idea she “supports Hamas” is ridiculous and looks like a bullying witch hunt.…
