A Pentagon official was seen in public for the first time this week after being charged with operating a brutal dog-fighting ring in Maryland for 20 years.
The details of the alleged crimes committed by Frederick Douglass Moorefield Jr., who was a deputy chief information officer in the Department of Defense, are shocking, to say the least.
He is accused of breeding dogs to fight and throwing them into the ring for money. He is also said to have electrocuted dogs that didn’t die fighting with jumper cables.
Moorefield was photographed by the Daily Mail leaving his Maryland home in a white t-shirt, black baseball cap, and gray sweats following his arrest. He had brochures and letters in his hands as he got out of his car.
The Pentagon official is said to have allegedly hosted gamblers at his property in Arnold, Maryland, according to court documents.

Moorefield was arrested on Thursday of last week. His friend Mario Damon Flythe, 49, was also taken into custody.
Flythe was seen on Wednesday by the Daily Mail eating food outside his home.
Investigators searched Moorefield’s home and reportedly uncovered a mountain of disturbing evidence against him. They found five pit-bull-type dogs in cages, bloodstained walls, carpeting, and furniture, as well as a set of jumper cables that were purportedly used to kill dogs.
Police also found what are known as “rape stands” that are used to forcefully inseminate female dogs. Veterinary medicine, including an anabolic steroid, was also seized along with Moorefield’s iPhone. It allegedly contained messages that showed his involvement in dogfighting.
Moorefield, Flythe, and their buddies reportedly used encrypted messaging applications to discuss their sick business venture. They allegedly confabbed over training the dogs and exchanged vicious videos, using the apps used to place bets.
According to the affidavit, Moorefield used the name “Geehad Kennels” and Flythe used the name “Razor Sharp Kennels” to identify their operations. Weighted vests were found at Moorefield’s home that had “Geehad Kennels” emblazoned on them. A training schedule was also discovered.
Dark stains were seen on the walls of the basement that investigators assumed to be dog blood. Those same stains were seen on large wooden panels that had dog hair on them. A section of gray carpet also had dark stains on it.
Seven pit-bull-type dogs were seized by authorities from Flythe’s home. Investigators also found dogfighting paraphernalia there that included weighted collars and a carpet mill.

Flythe has admitted to taking part in dogfighting previously according to court documents.
FBI Special Agent Ryan C. Daly wrote the affidavit in the case. He noted that they had been investigating a dogfighting ring called “the DMV Board” for years. Last year, nine members of that ring were indicted in Virginia.
While looking into all that, investigators also tripped across an online site that dogfighters used to boast about the pedigrees of their fighting dogs. On the site, Moorefield’s alias “Geehad Kennels” claimed to own dogs dating back to 2002 which means he’s been conducting horrific dogfights for over 20 years.
Anne Arundel County Animal Control responded to a report of two dead dogs placed in a plastic dog food bag in November 2018 who showed definite signs of dogfighting.
Authorities found mail inside the gruesome find that was addressed to Moorefield at the time. It’s unknown why he wasn’t investigated over it.

The Daily Mail reported that according to LCDR Tim Gorman, who is the spokesperson for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Moorefield is no longer employed by the Pentagon.
