Shocking scene of Chicago police station full of migrants called ‘inhumane’

Some Chicago residents may be experiencing buyer’s remorse after flaunting a sanctuary city status and declaring illegal immigrants would be welcomed there.

Reality seems to have struck as an image from what is purportedly the 12th District police station in the Windy City was posted on social media showing the “inhumane” scene of migrants sleeping on the floor as they await a permanent solution.

“The city has struggled for almost a year to find a more permanent solution for the influx of migrants still arriving from the southern US border. The migrants have traveled thousands of miles from countries throughout Central and South America and from Mexico,” CNN reported last month. “Attempts by the city to place the migrants in community colleges and high schools have been met with fierce resistance from residents at community meetings in those neighborhoods.”

Mayor Brandon Johnson is facing increasing pressure to do something about the situation and demands grow to know what has happened to the $51 million in migrant aid that the Chicago City Council approved in May.

John Catanzara, president of the Fraternal Order of Police, had a better idea than using the city’s police stations to house the scores of migrants who entered the US illegally.

“I don’t think there’s one single one of ’em living in City Hall — whether it’s on the county lobby floor or the City Hall floor. There’s certainly plenty of space to put a couple hundred in there, but I don’t see that happening in their workspace. But they certainly have no problem putting ’em in our workspace,” Catanzara said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. “Why be a hypocrite?”

He revealed that the migrants are even using police district addresses to receive their mail. “They now have CPS out there recruiting migrant children to register for CPS just to have that number in the next two weeks to grab as much tax revenue as they possibly can. Whether these kids come to school or not, they don’t care. This is all a big game to far too many people,” he told the outlet which noted that just in the last week, “the number of new migrant arrivals who’ve taken up temporary residence at Chicago police stations has increased 6% to 1,100.”
